It is indeed very true that there are many 'teach yourself' materials and books for the guitar.But my experiences, over the years both as a guitar student and lately a teacher, have shown that the best thing to do to master the art of playing the guitar is to have a teacher who will explain and demonstrate the various level of playing to the student. What I am saying is that a commited student should get hold of all(or any) of the materials he/she can lay his/her hands on, and then get a very good teacher for guidance.
