International Oboe Course 2010, Corfu-Greece

Thomas Indermühle and Spyros Kontos will present

the 5th annual International Oboe Course of Corfu this summer, focusing on solo performance including the fundamentals of oboe-playing and reed-making skills.

Participants will have intensive oboe instruction for seven days. They are asked to bring their choice of Oboe literature, 3-4 pieces of diverse epochs.

Mr. Indermühle works intensively one-on-one with each person in half-hour segments, carefully assessing each oboist's strengths and needs to improve performance skills. Mr Kontos works in the same way on alternate days.

After the individual-lesson sessions, there will be daily group lessons focusing on problems of breathing, embouchure, tuning control, register changes, articulation etc. Mr. Indermühle gives original exercises (watch videos of past years), which suit to all levels.

There will be also a reed-making session, and possibly orchestral excerpts lesson (if desired), given by Mr. Kontos.

There is a concert of teachers on the 8th July at the Ionian Academy Hall, as part of Corfu Festival.

Students will give a concert as well on the 9th July with works for Oboe ensembles; the concert is open to the public. There is no piano accompanist at the course.

Fees

Tuition       250 €

Auditor      100 €

Accommodation           160 € (in Hotel, double rooms, on request)

A deposit of 100 € (or the whole fee) will be required upon confirmation of a place. Payment in full on begging of the course

Participation

The number of active participants can not be over 20. Music students and young professionals can apply. Talented amateurs are also welcome, according to availability. There is also possibility for listeners, with fewer fees.

At the conclusion of the master class, each participant will receive a certificate.
