I started a tribute band for Maynard Ferguson. Why?

Well, he passed away 2 years ago and I missed seeing him play. I thought surely somebody would be playing his music in local jazz clubs around the bay area...NOPE! What I found was the same 'ol same 'ol: combos and the every occasional big band. People would actually pay a decent cover to go see a professional band playing Maynard, but none to be found...until now!
Always remember that Maynard not only appealed to horn players and jazz heads, but also the everyday person who was not a musician....this creates more booking opportunities at more than just pure jazz clubs.
We have had several rehearsals over the last several months ( in Walnut Creek, CA....east bay ) and things are starting to get tight. There is one Maynard alumni in the band and several NORTH TEXAS alumni as well. We have one great lead/solo trombone, but would like to have at least 2 in the group. Our current bone would not mind splitting lead and/or the solos. Would love to have you come sit in and have some fun.....no pressure. Just check us out and I think once you do, you really might like what is going on. This is a serious band rehearsing for gigs, not a reading band.
