Does anybody have any ideas on a solo i could play for fun. i'm a fairly skilled violinist going into college soon. I'm open to new types of music or classical pieces that are not overplayed. lemme know! thanks..

Well, you say your skilled, then look at the Bloch sonatas, Ives sonatas, Van Williams

violin concerto. All are not played very much and a big challenge.

I composed a challengeing piece in several movements : Suite Convergente for solo violin. If you are interested in, I can send you (and to anybody else) the score in PDF format. You can contact me either in this forum or by e-mail at csillag@enseeiht.fr Best wishes, Pierre

The Beethoven Sonatas for violin and piano are a lot of fun to play, but you would need a skilled pianist to learn the piano part.  I also love the Saint Saens 3rd violin concerto, it is absolutely gorgeous.  Whatever you do, do not play the Mendelssohn, the Tchaikovsky, or the Bruch violin concertos... as beautiful as they are, the are WAY overplayed!
