What is difference between classical music and western music?
|Classical music is an art music that was first heard in the early 11th century and has strict rules abiding it. It is based on a single scale of music. On the other hand western music or popular music doesn't abide by the single scale and is recent origin. It has no set rules and performers can ad lib or improvise at will. Classical music primarily uses instruments that are divided as classical instruments and nothing else is used. On the other hand, popular music uses all varieties of musical instruments and has no such restrictions on them.

The biggest difference is they classical music represents a different tradition So as our western music.
Classical music is always played on a single note whereas western music can be played by using multiple notes.
Classical music can be written in any language, its meaning will remain same but we can't do this type of changes with western music.
