she waits for news of him in letter
every day 
and every day it doesn't come
always so far away
 
flamenco keeps her going
keeps sane
she dances out frustration
on hard floor
fear, worry, dread, go away
for little time anyway
 
he's out there dodging bullets
roadside bomb
friends coming home
in body bag
faces. limbs. gone
reality's terrible thing
 
flamenco keeps her going

for little time anyway
 
he doesn't count the dead for her
keeps it sweet
suntan at beach darlin'
but she knows all the same
