Dimitris Papatheodorou Resume

      I was born in Athens in 1968. Studied at the Athens Conservatory under Aris Garoufalis where I obtained my Diploma in Piano at the early age of 17.

I was granted a two-year scholarship by the Onassis Foundation to study in Amsterdam at the Sweelink Conservatory with Hans Derksen. This was followed by a second scholarship from the same foundation along with a private grant from the Greek composer Manos Hadjidakis to study at the Manhattan School of Music with Byron Janis. After winning second prize in the Ibla International Piano Competition in 1992, received an award from EMI Records.
As the winner of a Special Presentation Award, played Carnegie Hall debut on January 22, 1995 under the sponsorship of Artists International Presentations, Inc.
In 1998, was awarded the Spyros Motsenigos Prize by the Athens Academy, an award given by the President of the Hellenic Republic Konstantinos Stephanopoulos.
Represents Greece (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) in Rumania and Argentina in 1997, plus in the cultural events of the Olympic games of Athens in 2004.

I have performed with orchestras such as the Absolute Ensemble, Flanders Opera Symphony Orchestra, Virtuozen van Brussel, Constantin Silvestri Chamber Orchestra, the Laredo Chamber Orchestra, Orquesta Filarmonica de Cochabamba, the Symphony, Orchestraof the Opera of Rumania, the Orchestra General San Martin, the Symphony Orchestra of the Opera ofBucharest, the Kamerata, the Greek Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of Athens, etc.
Also perform also in numerous festivals likethe Izmir International Festival, Kussadasi - Turkey,Shandelee Music Festival, New York - USA, Dranouter Festival, Belgium, 11th Festival of Pentelis, Festival of Athens,
19th Festival of Santorini, Jerusalem Festival 2008 in Israel and in every major festival and city of Greece.
