Melani Melani Jackson Resume

Melani remembers singing as young as 3 years of age. At the age of 11 she organized a family singing group who would create recordings in her self made studio in her basement. She made her first public appearance in front of over 10,000 people for a statewide competition where she won prizes for most talented at the age of 14.

She continued her endeavors at Morgan State University, where she studied under the direction of the late Dr. Nathan Carter. Her musical journey has brought her before many audiences and on stage with names including Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Michael Jordan, Jester Hairston, “Hannibal” Peterson and the late Coretta Scott King, from the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall to the New York Philharmonic. One of her more challenging accomplishments was her opportunity to do pit singing for the Alvin Ailey dancers' “Revelations”. Melani has also performed the national anthem alongside James Earl Jones for the National Baseball All-Star game.

Melani has been a featured vocalist/actor for Jo Farley Productions, where she has performed in several gospel plays. She has also written and directed her own gospel plays. She was a house vocalist for a gospel night club, Shekinah's Place. She has performed as well as led and directed praise and worship at several local churches. She has served as a member and one of the worship leaders at Rock City Church in Baltimore, MD.

Melani has been a part of several gospel groups. Melani is currently the lead singer, song writer, and coordinator of Judah 1st a contemporary band with musical styles ranging from jazz to pop, from soul to rock.

Melani has a goal to reach the youth and downtrodden. Her new age appeal combined with a soulful hard-hitting punch has caused her to be well received by audiences of all ages.
