Michael K Johnson Resume

The music tracks contained were written, arranged, produced, and performed by me, except for drums and of course the female vocal. Check out www.MichaelKMusic.com. This is my writing style and I am looking for some good local players to perform them and many other original songs of mine. I was musically trained at North Texas State School of Music. Majored in Guitar. Then I studied Orchestration in NY. I'm looking to start a very funky, yet at times technical and versatile classic pop, rock, and soul band doing cover tunes and mixing in my originals. I would love to play with EXPERIENCED solid pros who can read (if necessary) and ABSOLUTELY groove! I can sing lead vocals and harmonize well. I would like to be able to do some gigs as well in the jazz realm too. My main axe is guitar and I'm extremely comfortable playing ANY type of music from HARD rock and syncopated funk to fast swinging straight-ahead jazz. I can improvise over anything you can throw at me and I expect everyone else in the group to be able to do the same. I write and arrange a lot of music too, and that is why I want to do a lot of originals too. As you can see, the sky is the limit if the band and the music is tight. If you can relate to what I'm saying...call me. Check out www.MichaelkMusic.com
In the meantime I have a duo act called StylePop. You can check out my cover tune vocals at www.stylepop.net

As far as a band, I am specifically looking for: drums, keyboards, and Bass. I'm all set for everything else. 407-301-4400 or email me at mkj@kua.net

Seal, Tower of Power,Yes, Bad Company,Van Halen, Doobie Brothers, Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Living Color, Dave Mathews Band, Allman Brothers, Maroon 5, Goo Goo Dolls, Three Doors Down, Sting, Anita Baker, Earth, Wind & Fire, Steely Dan, Swing Out Sister. I Love Motown.
Well...I guess I love it all huh?

As for Jazz... I love: Pat Metheny, Al Jarreau, Yellowjackets, Coltrane, Miles Davis, Chick Corea, Weather Report, and anything real. I love hot straight-ahead jazz. I'm not crazy about smooth jazz. It bores me and smooth jazz is NOT even jazz in my opinion. I Love Motown, I love Steely Dan for their creative compositions too. Anything and everything thats good, clean and tight!
