Sari Savunen Resume

      Sari Savunen is a Finnish soprano whose repertoire includes Italian, French, English and German opera and lied. She has also been singing early music in several productions and premiered works of contemporary composers.

Savunen has studied classical singing with Seija Mikkonen, Päivi Järviö, Juha Karvonen, Harry van der Kamp, Marjut Hannula and Margareta Brandt in Finland and Annette Thompson in England. She has participated in many singing courses and been also singing in Savonlinna Opera Festival Choir.

She graduated as MA in Music and History at Oxford Brookes University in 2002 and as a voice pedagogue at Helsinki Metropolia Polytechnic in 2009. Her final recital comprised especially songs from Verdi and Bellini. She has also studied church music at the Sibelius Academy specialized in singing.

Savunen has been performing as an actress in many stage production, both theatre and opera, and her roles have varied from emotional drama to light comedy.

Sari Savunen's voice has been praised for its beauty and flexibility. Her acting is natural and she loves to present soulful and nuanced music with strong intensity.
