BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

A graduate of Sousa Jr. High and Anacostia Sr. High Schools, in the District of Columbia, Mal "Curtis" Johnson is a native Washingtonian who was born under the sign. of Gemini and has been playing music since the age of fifteen. He is presently a member of Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers, Inc. (CBSS). Professionally known as "Curtis Johnson," he managed the "Symbolic Fun k Band , performed with "Skip Mahoney and the Casuals," "The Dynamic Corvettes," "The Nation Time Band," "The Black K nights," and the award winning group "The One Band." Curtis has been a member of the "Soul Searchers" organization since their recording of the national hit tune "Bustin Loose" and was instrumental in structuring the corporate entity of Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers, Inc. for whom he currently serves in the position of Acting President. His contributions to the current hit tune "We Need Some Money" include •both lyrics and music. Prior contributions to the Soul Searchers include the idea and concept for the songs "Game Seven" and I Gotcha Now."
