Colin Price Resume

      Colin Price is a musician and conductor with a wide experience of all types of classical and light music, now living in Tenerife. He was brought up in a village in the Midlands of England, where he showed a musical talent at a very early age. After singing as a boy soprano in the local church choir, he became the church organist when only 14 years old, and conducting his first performance of Handel's "Messiah" one year later. At school he studied percussion and general music, gaining entrance to the Royal Manchester College of Music, where he studied percussion and organ, and later conducting with Sir John Barbirolli.

After graduation, he joined the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, continuing his conducting studies after Barbirolli's death with George Tzipine in Paris. He has been principal conductor of the Scottish Concert Orchestra and the Leopold Orchestra in England, and has conducted as guest with orchestras all over Europe and on the West coast of the U.S.A.

Colin is also an editor and arranger, and has recently edited some early symphonies of Haydn, as well as arranging Baroque organ works for string orchestra
He is at present Artistic Director of Camarata Canaria, a professional chamber orchestra based in the Canary Islands, and Orchestra D'Amici. He is regularly sought after as both a choral and orchestral conductor in both Europe and America, and is married to cellist Vaike Läänemägi.
