Brian Yandell Creative Page

Brian Yandell is an extremely talented singer/ songwriter/ musician from a musically rich family. Raised in Heavener, Oklahoma, USA, he began piano studies at the uncommonly age of four. Brian remembers his family listening to him practice Bach and Beethoven at the piano, then closing out his practice by performing his father*s favorites *by ear* - tunes by FloydCramer and Hank Williams, SR. He started singing and playing the piano for his church at age nine, then joined his family*s Southern Gospel group, THE YANDELLS, at fourteen. His summers were spent on the road with his family, which also included *gigs* in other countries- such as Spain, Ecuador and Mexico. It was while touring with his family that Brian began composing music.

After high school, Brian enrolled at Oklahoma Bapt University on a full music scholarship and became involved in several different music ensembles, continued to compose music and orchestrate in his spare time; and had the opportunity to perform lead roles in such musicals as Robber Bridegroom, Joseph the Dreamer and Carrousel. While at OBU and spending many weekends meeting his family on the road to perform, Brian was discovered by BENSON RECORDS artist, PRIORITY. Soon after, he joined the successful young quartet and began a three year relationship with WORD/HOMELAND Records and the publishing company of WELCOME HOME PRESS, in Nashville, TN. During his involvement with PRIORITY, Brian had several cuts recorded by the group, and saw his first single released to radio, *Remember Me,* which raced to the top of the charts. PRIORITY was soon a recognized name in positive music, and became a headlining act at Branson, Missouri*s SILVER DOLLAR CITY. During the off season, Brian and the group would tour extensively, performing over 250 dates a year.

When Brian decided to make an entrance back into his family*s musical act, the group was signed with SONLITE Records, also in Nashville. Very soon after, his song, *Center of Your Will,* entered the top of the charts and earned THE YANDELLS a nomination for *Horizon Group of the Year. Brian then signed an exclusive songwriting agreement with CHRIS WHITE MUSIC and continued to write songs recorded by leading country and gospel artists. In 1993, the SINGING NEWS MAGAZINE featured an article on Brian naming him as one of the music industry*s *leading youths.* When coming off the road as a performer to complete his education, Brian initially majored in Jazz Piano Performance at the University of North Texas, but his long-time love for country and pop music drew him back to Nashville, where by May of 1996, he had graduated from Belmont University earning both a degree in Commercial Vocal Performance and Music Theory with an emphasis in Piano as well as a minor in Music Business. Brian received special recognition from the university*s music school and the Nashville musical community, being named *Most Outstanding Senior of the Year* (graduating with a 4.0 in combined degrees), and was handed the school*s infamous Commercial Music Showcase Award. His move back to Nashville and acceptance into the famous School of Music was also rewarded in the areas of Brian*s performances, as he started getting calls from many Nashville-based songwriters in need of a demo vocalist and/or musician, as well as established artists in need of his extraordinary keyboard and vocal skills, of which he is still very involved

To date, Brian has performed with the likes of country artist, Brad Paisley, the Randall Brothers, Trenna Barnes of Cowboy Crush, JoDee Messina, JoHana Janet, Genny Owens, Vegas-act/Impressionaist, Paul Tanner, the legendary Vestal Goodman, country's Tracy Lawrence, Pam Tillis and Little Texas; as well other top country, pop, jazz and gospel acts. To make sure he stays artistically well-rounded, Brian continues to perform in musical theater productions, Operas and theater companies. He has served as vocalist for the world-famous SHOJI TABUCHI THEATER in Branson, MO., dramatic appearances at the TENNESSEE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER as well as entertained as a headliner for world-class resorts, hotels, and leading CRUISE LINES, such as Holland America, Carnival, Royal Carribean and Windstar Cruise Lines. While Brian loves the performing aspect of the creative arts, he also maintains his passion and strong leadership skills in areas of literary and musical composition, arranging, orchestration and recording arts in both piano and vocals, and in various musical genres including Classical music.

Brian is sure to make an impression on the hearts of his audience, in any art form, for another important reason; his heart is as big as his talents and his passion lies in every aspect of these gifts which will certainly move you to an experience you will not soon forget.
