Joan Streit Resume

Trained as a classical pianist starting at age eight, I have been playing and singing popular music my entire life. I have always been drawn to this great music, and remember feeling compelled to play any piano in sight (even when not invited!) and to sing whenever I could.

My repertoire includes songs from the 1920's to the present, with a special passion for Broadway music and the Great American Songbook, especially the Gershwins, Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart, Jerome Kern, and Irving Berlin.

I have performed at restaurants, country clubs, senior citizens centers, and private homes in northern New Jersey. If you've ever shopped at Nordstrom at the Short Hills Mall, you may have heard me. For thirteen years I played there on Sunday afternoons. I've also sung with the Montclair Operetta Club and Melochords Broadway Chorus. I speak French fluently and often sing French songs when asked.
