Thomas Newman Resume

      Dr. Newman has taught flute for over 53 years. His students are successful throughout the middle atlantic states. He loves to perform, conduct and compose music.

He currently leads performances by his group known as Flute and Friends.
He is the conductor of the James River Pops Ensemble.

Dr. Newman has a Bachelor in Music Education Degree from East Carolina University
Master of Arts in Flute Performance from Radford University
Master of Education in Supervison and Administration from the University of South Carolina
Ph. D. in Music Education from Pacific Western University
Additional studies at Boston University and Indiana University.
He believes in lifelong learning in music.
He explores new ways to teach, including teaching on the internet by using Skype.
