The Celebrators Resume

      At the core of the Celebrators is the duo of Lisa York (vocals, keyboards, flute), & Steve York ( bass, harmonica, vocals They are lifetime professional musicians with international and major recording & touring credits who bring decades of experience to your venue or event. They play authentic versions of hits from the 50's & 60's , Motown, jazz & swing, Latin , blues, country, rock & roll, and romantic ballads. In fact Steve & Lisa have performed many of these hits with the original artists! They augment the group with Puerto Vallarta's finest musicians including Paco Barajas ( Vocals & Guitar) Martin Montenegro ( Tenor Sax), Oscar Terrazas ( Alto Sax & flute), Ron Doering ( Guitar & Vocals), Izef Garcia (Guitar), Miguel Salazar (Congas), Memo Suarez & Pepe Rivas ( Drums) to also play popular Latin music including salsa, cumbia, bolero & merengue. The Celebrators are available for private parties, weddings, clubs and all kinds of events.
Lisa & Steve worked together as a duo for 15 years in Minneapolis, MN, USA and also played together in the bands of many national acts including The Drifters, Platters, Coasters, Fabian, Shirelles, Marvelettes, Del Vikings, Syl Johnson, Big John Dickerson and others. Steve was the recipient of the Minnesota Music Academy’s Award for Bassist in 1997, 2001, & 2005. Lisa & Steve were inducted into the Minnesota Country & Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.
From the USA, Lisa has toured with many internationally known artists including Alexander O'Neal, Cherelle, & Pebbles under the direction of Terry Lewis & Jimmy Jam Harris III as well as Baby Face & L.A. Reed. She has worked and recorded with Syl Johnson, Ipso Facto, Percy Strother and Big John Dickerson. She has also worked solo through out Europe and Asia. Visit Lisa's website at Lisa York
Originally from England, Steve recorded and toured with many top UK artists including Robert Palmer, Manfred Mann, Marianne Faithfull, including her ground breaking " Broken English" album, and Elkie Brooks, including her European hits "Pearl's A Singer", 'Sunshine After the Rain" & "Lilac Wine". He also played on recordings with Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend, Ringo Starr, Mick Jagger and many others before moving to the US in 1981.
