Mamajuana is a musical group from Dominican Republic created by the composer and producer Eddie Gonzalez.


Mamajuana (name taken from a Dominican exotic and aphrodisiac beverage) started combining contemporary Afro-Caribbean rhythms and romantic lyrics. Their debut album entitled "Mamajuana" was released in the US under the label of Sony Music and in the first two weeks, it sold 20,000 copies. Mamajuana was nominated for best new group in the Casandra Awards 2001, and Best Tropical group in Univision "Premios Lo Nuestro".

His second album entitled "For Sale" was released by Universal Music, contains the smash hit "Tomando Mamajuana" and then the band tour in America, Europe and Asia; Mamajuana is the first Dominican group to travel in China, where they performed for 6 months.

Mamajuana recorded a Bachata album in Portuguese with the Brazilian artist Claudio Carneiro which is entitled "Bachata Bahiana"

Mamajuana has made presentations throughout America, Europe and Asia and has shared the stage with other prestigious artists; Mamajuana is the first Dominican group to appear in China.


Mamajuana currently presents a new musical concept called "Tropical Electronica" which are pioneers and where evolves with unique style to the world of electronic music mixing the Latin rhythms to delight the public with a unique show in its class.
