Samuel Nilsson Resume

My name is Samuel Nilsson and I come from a town in northern Hälsingland called Gnarp, which is in the middle of Sweden between the cities Hudiksvall and Sundsvall. I am currently studying at Kaggeholms Folk High School in Stockholm with focus on music where I will be a year from now on.

My main interest in life is music. This is what takes up my leisure time and permeates everything I do. I can start by saying that my two main instrument is the electric bass and violin. I've played bass since I was about eight years old and most of my skills are self-learned with help from various bass books. I took bass lessons for two years, but not more. I've played violin since I was nine years old. That was when I started in local music school with the violin lesson and I have taken lessons ever since and will continue to do so in Kaggeholm.

When I was in music school, I was involved in the string orchestra that I remained in until I finished ninth grade. With the orchestra I have played at many concerts, and the repertoire that we played was to say the least, mixed. It was everything from Jazz to Rock and from Irish to Classical. Through the music school I also made solo performance with the violin.

I have also been involved in the first Nordanstig Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Nils-Gunnar Burlin. The orchestra has only made occasional appearances and collected only when it draws up to a concert. When I started high school in Sundsvall I began with violin lesson at the local music school there. I also started in their orchestra SUS (Sundsvall Youth Symphony Orchestra) at the same time. That orchestra plays most classical music. It was during these three years I developed most in my violin skills, much thanks to the violin teacher I had in Sundsvall.

I have not played bass that much in local music school, but the more everywhere else. I have played bass in several groups over the years. Then it has acted on most pop and rock, but sometimes a little more advanced music. With the various groups I have done several concerts and performances. Some examples are on a wedding and on a transhumance. With the various groups, I have also recorded a few demos. I have also made some solo performances with the bass, mostly in recent years with my brother on drums. Me and my brother has played a lot together over the years and he has been involved in most of the groups I have played in.

At Kaggeholm Folk High School I study bass for a great bass player named Anders Kotz and another great bass player named Johan Bengtsson. At Kaggeholm I really how it is to be a musician and I develop in my bass play and music knowledge every day. I hope it will lead to something good.

I have released a record that was my project work during my third year in High School. On the record, I've played everything myself, except for the drums as my brother played, mixed everything myself and produced everything myself. The cover of the disc is made by me and ... Yes, in short, I have done everything myself, everything except mastering of the songs. I transferred it to a couple of trained ears of Audiomaster in England.

In the future I will release more records and write more music. During my stay in Kaggeholm, I will develop as a musician and a songwriter, and I will have time to write new songs for my upcoming records. I look forward to it and I hope that you will do the same.
