T.J. JAZZ Creative Page
T.J. JAZZ is a refreshing and surprising young
vocalist from Worcester Massachusetts who interprets the jazz classics in the
style of the great voices of the genre. The intention of T.J. JAZZ is to transmit the escence of jazz from
the beginning of the twentieth century, the grand era of jazz, when music put a
smile where there were only sorrows. The informal, fun and above all sponaneous
spirit of the show is a guarantee for an evening full of good music and a truly
unique experience on the jazz scene. Fun for jazz lovers and for those who
still aren’t sure if they like jazz.
Concerts suitable for dancing! The repertoire is from the early 40’s and prior concentrating on the fruitful era of the 20’s. Jazz Me Blues, I Can’t Give You Anything But Love, Ain’t Misbehavin’, I’m Just Wild About Harry, Drum Boogie....Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Andy Razaf, Cab Calloway, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Spencer Williams, Mort Dixon, Eubie Blake, Bessie Smith, Doris Day, Lucille Hegamin, Eartha Kitt, Pearl Bailey....a few great influences. Another very unique element of T.J. JAZZ is her use of Tap dance, which recuperates its strong connection to jazz – a connection almost forgotten today – but truly inseparable.
From Massachusetts to her landing in Madrid 4 years ago, T.J. JAZZ has worked with a great number of artists, delighting the public of the Madrid Jazz scene (…Bogui Jazz, Café el Despertar, Café Berlín, XXIV – XXVI Jazz Festival of Madrid… and many locations that program live jazz). This young dame of vocal jazz continues to gain territory and public, especially as director of the Mad Tap Festival & co-director of the Mad Tap Jam Session of Madrid.
