Adrienne Albert Resume

      Long a collaborator with other composers (Igor Stravinsky, Leonard Bernstein, Philip Glass and Gunther Schuller among others), award-winning composer Adrienne Albert began composing her own music in the 1990s. In 1994, she received a Certificate in Film Scoring from the University of California at Los Angeles determined to write both instrumental and vocal music for the concert stage, not necessarily for film. In the following decade, her concert works have been performed throughout the United States, Europe, Thailand, and South Africa, and China. Among numerous commissions, awards and grants, Albert is the recipient of a 2006 National Endowment for the Arts grant in conjunction with the American Composers Forum for the Continental Harmony Project. Her “An Alaskan Symphony”, a work in three movements for choir and orchestra was premiered in Alaska in April of 2007. Other recent commissions include chamber works for Pacific Serenades (2007), trombonist Andrew Malloy (2008), an Evensong Service for choir and organ for St. Bedes Episcopal Church (2007). Chamber Music Palisades (2008) commissioned Adrienne to compose "Americana Quartet" for flute and string trio in Los Angeles, CA, and The Newstead Trio (2009) as part of the grand opening of a new building designed by Philip Johnson for the Pennsylvania Academy of the Arts in Lancaster, PA. Adrienne toured China last summer with the Newstead Trio as their Composer-In-Residence meeting with gifted young musicians along the Silk Road. Other past awards and grants include several Meet the Composer grants, Composer Assistance Program grants, Mu Phi Epsilon grant, the prestigious ACME Award, and numerous consecutive ASCAP Awards. She is the immediate-past President of the Los Angeles Alumni Chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon Music Fraternity, a member of ACF-LA, SAG, AFTRA, The American Music Center, IAWM, Chamber Music America, The Dominant Club, NACUSA and ASCAP Her music has been recorded for Centaur, ABC Classics and Little Piper Records and is published by Kenter Canyon Music (ASCAP).
