Sylvie De Pauw Resume

      
The Belgian Soprano Sylvie De Pauw studied Orthopedagogy next to privat singing training by Andréa Nevry in Gent and Malcolm King in Italy.
She took part in several masterclasses at the “Münchner Staatsoper”.
She studied with Charlotte Margiono in Amsterdam and worked with Joost Vanmaele, artistic director of the Orpheus Institute Belgium.

Her professional carreer started in 1999 at the “Flemish Opera” as a Blumenmädchen (Parsifal). For “Opera Hall” she performed the part of Sacerdotessa (Aïda) in Köln, Brussels and Lisbon, as well as the part of Anna (Nabucco) in Köln, Brussels, Madrid and Barcelona.

In 2003-2004 she made her debute at the “Royal Theatre La Monnaie” as one of the Cinq soprano solistes (Le Roi Arthus,E. Chausson) under the musical direction of Daniele Callegari.
Through the season 2004-2005, she sang again in “La Monnaie” as Erste Dienerin (Die Frau ohne Schatten,R. Strauss) under the musical direction of Maestro Kazushi Ono. She was singing in the same cast as the world famous Jose Van Dam.
In March that season she performed her first Gilda (Rigoletto,G.Verdi) , stage director was Dagmar Pischel.
Season 2005-2006 she sang among other productions Cornelia-Paula in “Heliogabal”(production of “Het Toneelhuis”, stage director Josse De Pauw, music by Peter Vermeersch and the Flath Earth Society)
In juin 2007 she sang her first Adele (Die Fledermaus,J.Strauss) in the Summeropera production Alden Biesen. Music director was Koen Kessels.
Season 2007-2008 she’s also invited by the famous Bass-Bariton Boris Martinovic to sing Susanna(Le Nozze di Figaro,W.A.Mozart) in his ‘7 arts Festival’ on the Croatian Islands.

One could hear her in concert with the Rubio String Quartet in the world-creation of Tijdkrans I and II of F. Celis (cd-recording); with I Fiamminghi in the Third Symphony of H. M. Gorecki and in ‘Space 1, 2, 3’ by Jo Sporck; in Desingel (Antwerp) she sang music by Arthur Degreef with the Flemish Radio Orchestra and with the Symphonic Orchestra of Flanders she interpreted Marietta inDieToteStadt(E.Korngold).

At the moment she travels a lot with the world famous vocal ensemble “Collegium Vocale Gent”, conductor is Philippe Herreweghe.
She loves her project with the Belgian writer Kristien Hemmerechts named ‘ Een Bakje troost’. Two woman combine lyrics and music. Next season they will make a new production named ‘Herman’ about the life of the poet Herman De Coninck.
