Maka Borchashvili Resume

      Maka Borchashvili was born in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1977.

She began her music studies at Tbilisi Music Academy at the age of 7.

She gave her first musical performance at the age of 11 and when she was 12 she performed as a soloist accompanied by the Georgian State Symphony Orchestra.

In 1992 she was awarded a scholarship at the 'New Names' competition in Moscow. In 1995 she took part in a piano competition in Senigalia, Italy. She entered the State Conservatory in 1997 where she was trained by Prof. Revaz Tavadze.

She has completed the master classes of renowned Liza Leonskaya. She won first prize at 'The Best Virtuoso of Chopin Eludes' award.

She has also won the 'Best Choice of the audience' at the Georgian National Competition. She graduated from the State Conservatory in 2002 and went on tour of the Caucasian Countries, covering Azerbaijan, Armenia and Ossetia.

Maka moved to The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in 2002 and performed her first recital at Bellapais Abbey in 2003, where she played Chopin Piano Concerto No 2 accompanied by the TRNC Symphony Orchestra.

In 2002 she participated in the 2nd International North Cyprus Music Festival and played Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No2 accompanied by Izmir Ladies Symphony Orchestra.

She has worked as a piano teacher and a concert pianist at the Nicosia Music Education Centre from 2004 to 2007.

She is currently working as a piano teacher at the Eastern Mediterranean University Music teaching Department.
