Francesca Gramegna Resume

Francesca Gramegna is a professional singer, lyricist, composer and producer from Apulia, in Italy. She holds a bachelor Degree in "Show Business Management" and has been performing internationally with different live bands (jazz, soul, funk, latin, pop, rock, choir).

She first trained in vocal techniques, music harmony and jazz improvisation with jazz singer Lisa Manosperti, and then piano and guitar at a private school of music. Francesca started collaborating with some DJs and producers: in 2001 she wrote the lyrics and performed in “Looking for a lullaby” by Loris DJ (Votu Records) and in 2005 she started working as session vocalist at JoyLab studio in Ancona for the track “Back to me” by Jordan Dee.

Her interest in technology and in trip-hop music changed her approach to composition, shifting her genre to synth-pop, electronica and nu-jazz through the use of sequencers and samples. In 2006 she started writing her own songs, recording and mixing everything in a small home-studio. Among her main influences you can find artists like Björk, Lali Puna, Goldfrapp and Massive Attack. In 2007 she moved to Rome and in 2009 she released her first album “Blindsight”, available on iTunes, which has been described as "sweet electronic, full of melody interrupted by elegant cut&paste drums" (rockit.it)

Winner of the 2008 edition of Nokia Trends Lab Contest, she was also a featured artist in January 2009 for the Radio Rai show "Demo", with Renato Marengo and Michel Pergolani. In 2011 Francesca wrote the lyrics and sung on british producer James Bright's track “My Only Drug”, featured on “Purobeach - Oasis del Mar Vol. 8”. In 2012 she start a collaboration with producer Nerio “Papik” Poggi for a rendition of jazz standard “Estate” by Bruno Martino, part of the compilation “Cocktail Martino”, published by IRMA Records.

Having successfully performed internationally at private venues and luxury locations, Francesca mainly sings jazz standards and international evergreens, with a very personal and accurate taste and a soulful and soothing vocal timbre. Her repertoire is based on masterpieces made famous by the most important jazz singers (Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone) and also includes contemporary jazz singers like Norah Jones, Diana Krall, Stacey Kent, Melody Gardot.
Francesca is capable of creating an elegant and exclusive musical background for any kind of event: music for restaurants, wedding venues, cocktail bars and private parties as a solo performer or with single musicians (pianist, guitarist, saxophonist, percussionist, trumpeter) or full ensembles (jazz, soul/funky, disco).

She can sing more than 1000 songs in English, Italian, French, Spanish and Portuguese with no accent. The musical entertainment that she provides is usually a blend of jazz standards and brazilian traditional songs (bossa nova and samba by Tom Jobim, Joao Gilberto, Vinicius de Moraes, Ary Barroso, Roberto Menescal, Baden Powell, Bebel Gilberto), traditional spanish music (bolero, tango), beguine and ballads (Pink Martini, Arielle Domblase, Luis Miguel), italian music (Gino Paoli, Bruno Martino, Zucchero, Giorgia, Mina, Malika Ayane), chill-out & nujazz (Morcheeba, Portishead, Massive Attack, Zero 7, Nicola Conte), smooth & vocal jazz (Sade, Norah Jones, Diana Krall, Michael Bublé, Aretha Franklin, Melody Gardot, Al Jarreau), international pop and soft-rock from the '50s to today (Platters, Pink Floyd, Eagles, Elton John, Lionel Richie, Madonna, Queen, U2, George Michael, Santana, Micheal Jackson), latin-american and reggae
