Quantcast

Lisa was inducted into the Minnesota Rock & Country Hall of Fame in April 2007!

Lisa has brought her eclectic style of music to some of the finest entertainment venues in the world. A pianist and vocalist since the age of 5, she brings a distinctive mix of smoky jazz, sultry ballads, silky Latin, rhythm & blues and ragtime with a little New Orleans added. Jon Bream of the Minneapolis Star & Tribune and The Twin Cities Reader’s Tom Surowicz respectively has declared Lisa’s voice "passionate, dramatic, subtly soulful, and authoritative."

She romances a song. Whether working as a solo artist or with an ensemble, Lisa lives up to her reviews with grace and ease with a professional background in almost every imaginable musical style. She has been in constant demand as a pianist, keyboardist and vocalist locally, nationally, and internationally for over 30 years. She has a vocal repertoire in several languages.

Her unique vocal and piano style has enabled her to tour nationally & internationally with CBS and MCA TABU recording artists Alexander O’Neal, Cherrelle and Pebbles, working under the direction of Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam Harris III and also Baby Face and L A Reed respectively. She has also worked with R&B legend, Syl Johnson and Blues artist Percy Strother. She has performed with Steve York as a backing musician for The Coasters, The Platters, The Drifters, The Marvelettes, The Shirelles, and  Fabian. She was featured as a vocalist with a touring group at the invitation of the United States Department of Defense in the Persian Gulf in 1993.

Lisa settled in Minneapolis in 1978 (Lisa Krieger) & began fronting an 8 piece Latin Salsa band called Rio.  She went on to spend the next several years playing and singing with countless Twin City bands, as well as working solo at local venues such as The Whitney Hotel, Lord Fletcher’s, Basil’s, and the Fine Line. She also worked at these venues as a duo with her husband, internationally recognized bassist, Steve York. www.steveyork.com

Especially notable among Lisa’s accolades, she has been recorded & broadcast twice by National Public Radio; as vocal soloist with University of Iowa’s Distinguished Ensemble Collegium Musicum and also Minnesota’s Bayfront Blues Festival with Syl Johnson.      Lisa’s extensive background includes musical theater, which showcased her excellence as an actress & dancer. She also proved a capable teacher of keyboard technique, vocal styles & music theory at Minneapolis Music Technical College. She has  received mention in National Publications such as Down Beat & Gig magazines. Her television appearances include Arsenio Hall, American Band Stand, and Soul Train. She has also performed solo at 5 star venues throughout Europe & Asia for several years.

From 2001 to Fall of 2005, Lisa worked with Big John Dickerson and the Celebrators as keyboardist & vocalist. To listen to her duet with Big John, click on "Unchained Melody". John and Lisa's Duets were a unique feature of the group.

Lisa & her husband have recently made their home in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and are working as The Celebrators.
